While January was a hellscape, February felt a little better. In terms of politics, I felt like people started waking up to what was going on so I felt comfortable retreating into my own world...I know that doesn't make an ounce of sense but I was just glad that I didn't feel so alone anymore.
February was extremely busy and testing for me personally and professionally. I felt like I hit rock bottom a few times but got back up and now that I'm on the other side, I feel different. I feel proud and accomplished which isn't usually like me.
I just think after a particularly hard month, hard in a way I haven't necessarily experienced before, I feel different but aren't I always saying that? I'm constantly going through something, coming out the other side and then making grand statements that this time something will be different.
I need to just keep moving forward because progress is not linear and even though I have my days or weeks, I'm in a better place than I was a few years ago.
That's my spiel for today... now onto the favorites.
After a low-buy/no-buy January, I would say February was pretty successful in that department as well. My purchases were very limited and mindful. I'll have to do an update at the end of March for Q1 of a low-buy/intentional spending year but I'm happy with where I'm netting out.
With that, I've rediscovered some items within the walls of my home that have been bringing me a lot of joy this month...and one new thing that was basically an essential so I'm giving myself a pass.
Ralph Lauren Marcy Satchel
I received the Ralph Lauren Marcy Satchel for Christmas a few years ago after lusting over it for months. It is one of the most gorgeous, well made bags I've ever seen and I am deeply impressed with Ralph Lauren's craftsmanship. I used it for work for a while, but then would get bored (as I usually do) and would use something else. However, I always come back to this and that's what I did this month.
The bag is very spacious, very luxe and fits more than I need on a daily basis when I'm going to work. It's an all leather bag, so it is a little heavy without anything in it but it's a price I'll pay for having everything I need and not feeling like the bag is spilling out or disorganized. I love my Louis Vuitton Neverfull and it's always going to be my number one work bag but this Ralph Lauren is definitely in 2nd place. It's a gorgeous bag that looks incredibly lux and professional, while keeping me organized which I appreciate.
Rare Beauty Find Comfort Body Mist
I will try anything to calm myself down which is why when Selena Gomez released the Find Comfort line at Rare Beauty, I was intrigued. A body care line that is supposed to engage the senses and uplift my mood? Sign me up! I purchased the Find Comfort Body Mist which has notes of jasmine, lemon, cashmere and fell in love. I've casually used the mist over the past year but this month I felt like I needed it more than ever. I used it almost as an essential oil throughout the day whenever I needed a pick me up. It's one of the most relaxing mix of scents I've ever smelled and it's addictive. If you want a super light, uplifting and relaxing scent this spring, I cannot recommend the Find Comfort Body Mist enough. It doesn't last all day because it's a mist but it's truly divine.
Pottery Barn Dream Brushed Cotton Comforter
The comforter I was using on my bed up until now was very old; I've had it for about 3 or 4 years and before that, it was my mom's because I couldn't find one that I liked. It was just a simple white comforter, nothing special, but it is harder than you think to find a normal, no fuss comforter that isn't a quilt or duvet. I finally had enough this month and searched for something new, finally deciding to just splurge on a high quality comforter that would last me for years. Pottery Barn's Dream Brushed Cotton Comforter was pricey for just a comforter (no pillowcases or shams) but my goodness, it was worth every penny. It is the most luscious, soft, lightweight yet warm comforter I've ever used. Every night I get into bed and feel like I'm at a hotel, but it's your own home so you don't feel grossed out. I always look forward to going to sleep but with this comforter, it's on another level.
