This year was the year I was going to stop shopping, but of course, that didn't happen. I do think I made some improvements -- I didn't spend as frivolously or impulsively as I have in previous years. I was a little more wise with where my dollar was going and with what was coming into my house.

This might go down as the year where I came to the realization that I do not need as much as I think I do. It was the year where the big purchases I made, made an impact.

It sounds so much more poetic and deep than what it actually is but it's true. The items on this list, while not a comprehensive catalog of everything I spent money on in 2024, are items that I loved and truly used on a consistent basis.

Let's get into it, shall we?

Tory Burch Fleming Soft Chain Tote

When I saw this Tory Burch bag, either at the end of last year or beginning of this year, I fell in love. I couldn't believe a bag like this existed -- it was a dream bag and exactly what I wanted. The Tory Burch Fleming Soft Chain Tote was big enough to be a tote but small enough that I could find everything in; big enough that it could carry everything I would need but small enough that it didn't look very bulky. Plus, it was in my favorite Tory Burch style -- the Fleming, which is ultra luxe and so beautiful. This quickly became my everyday bag, a bag that I truly couldn't stop using even if I wanted too. I have never been the type of person to use the same bag day in and day out but this changed all of that.

I talked about the bag in my June 2024 favorites and did a YouTube video on it, so check those out for more information but put it this way: I heavily contemplated buying another color during Black Friday and still am.

BCBG Rain Jacket

Do you have any idea how difficult it is to find a water resistant rain jacket with a hood? It's virtually impossible! Who makes rain jackets without hoods?! I needed one not just for everyday life, especially in the spring, but I also was making my inaugural trip to London and I knew it would be an essential piece. I searched high and low for the perfect one, and finally, BCBG came through. Their Water Resistant Hooded Jacket is the perfect raincoat; it's long enough to cover your legs (I'm 5'2 and you'd be surprised how short a lot of coats are on me), it's thick enough to keep you warm on a cool day but not so warm that you can't wear the jacket on a 70 degree, rainy day. The water slides right off of it, and the hood is big enough to cover your entire head. It truly is the perfect jacket and vastly improved my life this year. It's very random, but very necessary.

J.Crew Cashmere Cardigan

This is also a very random selection but it's all a call for help -- J.Crew, if you're listening, please release this cardigan in 100 other colors. I always want to like cashmere sweaters, and I always look to J.Crew to deliver me something I love. However, I'm never satisfied; they're all too itchy, too boxy or give off too much static. This year, that all changed when J.Crew released this relaxed Cashmere cardigan. It's so soft  and the relaxed fit looks super feminine, and is slightly oversized so you could wear it with leggings, which is the only way I wear it; when I add chunky loafers or boots, it's the perfect casual NYC look. I'm obsessed and can't stop wearing it. It's been the most worn sweater in my collection since September, and I can't believe J.Crew didn't produce any other colors aside from gray & yellow.

Gold Candlesticks & Tapered Candles

This is very random but it's true...tapered candles and gold candlesticks really brought my home together in 2024. My friend gifted me candles for Galetine's Day in February, and I immediately knew that yes, I was the type of person who needed to have tapered candles in her apartment. I bought gold candlesticks from Amazon, and the way they added height & dimension to my coffee table, and a bit of personality made me so happy. Now, I have a collection of candlesticks that I swap out seasonally and it feels so right.

What were your favorite purchases of 2024?
