Well friends, another year has been completed and we're mere days away from ringing in 2025. It sounds like a fake year, something you hear in an episode of The Jetsons, but believe it or not, it's real. I don't really know how I feel about 2025 yet -- I think it's going to be a great year for me personally but for the collective world, I think we're in for some trouble. I hope I'm wrong!
2024 was an interesting year, and I need to make the time to really reflect, but I think I had a good one. My mental health was better in a lot of ways, I traveled, I celebrated, I rested and I conquered some fears. Maybe I'll do a blog post or substack about my year, but for now we're here to talk about beauty products.
2024 was the year of hair & skin for me; I went through some struggles with both but I think I'm ending the year with a decent rotation of products. While I still hit VIB Rogue this year (and pretty early in fact), I don't think I bought a lot of unnecessary products; the products I did buy became quick favorites and I also realized that most of my favorites were in my collection all along and I didn't need to try something new.
2025 is going to be a year of less stuff, so figuring out what I love and sticking with that. I don't always need something new to satisfy a craving and I need to get comfortable with wanting things versus immediately letting myself have them.
All of that being said, let's get into the products that made up most of my 2024.
*I think it's important to say that everything that I mentioned in my 2023 beauty favorites are still used on a daily basis for me...aside from maybe the Bobbi Brown foundation stick which I still love but found something I like even more.
Dyson Air Strait
Westman Atelier Vital Skin Foundation Stick
Last year, the Bobbi Brown foundation stick was a favorite and this year, it was knocked from the top spot. I gave into my desires for a Westman Atelier product and immediately fell in love with the foundation stick and really the brand as a whole. I haven't done a review on this yet but I need too; it's a creamy, easy to blend foundation stick that gives a very natural finish to the skin while providing medium coverage. I wear this everyday; I wear it to work, to dinner, I think I've even worn it to a wedding or some other fancy event when you want your makeup to look impeccable. It plays nice with makeup, stays on all day, and truly looks beautiful no matter what.
rhode Pocket Blush
I can't help it, I love rhode and I love Hailey Bieber! When she announced her first foray into color cosmetics (tinted lip treatments not included), I was sold. Pocket Blush, her cream blush formula that delivers a flush that lasts all day long & provides skin with the hydration it needs to look natural and glowy. This became my favorite blush of the year and one that I wore all summer long (shade Freckle). I usually only wear cream blush in the summer but also made an exception for Sleepy Girl which I bought recently and have been wearing. The formula is really beautiful and natural, while providing great color and a truly natural flush but my favorite part of it is the blend-ability. It blends seamlessly into skin, whether it's on top of makeup or on bare skin, and looks gorgeous no matter what. It's so easy to work with, it's a no brainer to wear constantly.
Clé de Peau Beauté Concealer
The Clé de Peau Concealer is an oldie but goodie that was rediscovered this year. Years ago, it was my first expensive beauty purchase and it has become old faithful. It's the best concealer I've ever used and hides my dark circles like nothing else I've ever tried. It's easy to blend (do we sense a theme with my favorite products?) and looks just as good with a full face of makeup as it does on it's own. I think I much prefer cream concealers than liquid ones, because I haven't used anything else in months.
Hourglass Powders
This was the year I stopped fussing around with other bronzers & blushes and stuck to what I liked. Hourglass makes some of the most unique powders I've ever encountered and I splurged on them more in 2024. They, you guessed it, blend easily into my skin and offer a blurring effect that I think looks gorgeous. It's hard to overdo it with Hourglass and the fine milled formula allows you to build it up without looking too heavy or cakey. I've been obsessed with the Ambient Lighting Bronzer and splurged on one of the face palettes this past fall, when they released a limited edition collection with defunct retailer Barneys. If I'm not using a rhode blush, I'm using an Hourglass one...they're just perfect.
