We're officially nearing the end of summer and I'm feeling some type of way about it. I'm not necessarily excited or sad, I'm indifferent. I've had a decent summer -- lots of fun plans, time outside, some swimming and lots of change in terms of my mom moving.
She now has a backyard in her new house so it's fun to be able to take the sun, sit outside and just feel like I have somewhere else to go. It really has been a positive change for me and I'm grateful. I've needed some positive change for my mental health and July was a pivot month for me. I've felt lighter, more centered, and just all around better.
In July I tried to do a no-buy month; I didn't necessarily fail or succeed, it was somewhere in the middle. I wanted to do less impulse spending, which I did, and not waste money on things I didn't need, which I did. I bought a few things but for the most part, stayed clear of frivolous spending.
I'm hoping to keep that promise to myself throughout August as well. We'll see!
As for the month of July, I definitely had some favorite items from beauty to handbags and more.
Bliss Clear Genius Acne Spot Treatment
Since mid April I've been dealing with so many skin issues. My skin, mostly my cheeks, have been congested and I've had what I think are closed comedones aka whiteheads. I could not figure out what the issue is and I was trying so many different products but nothing helped. Finally, I decided to just keep it simple and go with Salicylic Acid.
I found the Bliss brand version to be the best for me because it had a decent percentage and didn't smell overly of alcohol like other brands I've tried. I put this on my cheeks every night for a few days (making sure to moisturizer after so my skin didn't dry out) and my skin cleared up right away. Now, whenever I feel like I'm having a bit of a breakout or something is going on, this is my magical step. It's truly a game changer to keep on hand if you have acne prone skin.
Rhode Tinted Peptide Lip Treatment in Toast
I love Rhode Skincare but their lip peptide treatment hasn't been at the top of my list. I liked it at first but then my tube got sticky and I didn't enjoy it anymore. However, my curiosity peaked last month and I felt the need to purchase the tinted lip treatment in Toast. Well, there's a new favorite lip product on the block because it's to die for! The tinted treatment feels different than the untinted; it's more nourishing, less sticky, and of course, it has the beautiful nude tint. It's my perfect everyday product and I can't get enough.
Tory Burch Kira Chevron Wallet on a Chain
Tory Burch remains one of the best contemporary designers out there, even though her prices are nearing luxury territory sometimes. I am continually in awe of everything she puts out and the new collections/franchises she continues to nurture. One of her best collections is the Kira, which consists of diamond shaped quilting and is the butteriest, most luxurious looking collection I've seen. I've had a few Kira's in my collection but I was drawn to one of the newer bags -- a Kira Wallet on Chain.
I don't have anything like this in my collection and I desperately wanted one. Sure enough, this baby went on sale for under $200 in June and I immediately bought it. It has become my most used bag of the month, even though it is very tiny. I can't stop using it! It's so cute, so chic and so convenient. I'll do a full handbag reveal & review on both the blog and my YouTube channel soon but I had to include it here!
What were your favorites in July?
