Happy National Sleep Week! What a week to celebrate by talking about night routines, good sleep...and good beauty sleep. This week long holiday feels appropriate since we sprung forward this past weekend and lost an hour of sleep...but I guess that's why the powers that be made it this week.

It's no secret that for the past few years, I've been more intrigued by skincare products rather than makeup. Ever since the pandemic when the skincare boom really started, I've taken my skin more seriously and I think it's paying off.

I'm not as risky with my skincare routine as I am with my makeup routine because I don't want to screw anything up. I don't want to risk a breakout or a bad reaction so I try new things slowly. I also do my research and have really been focusing on what my skin needs, what ingredients I know my skin reacts well too and investing in quality brands. If you're going to splurge, I think skincare is the place to do it.

It also helps that I work for Estee Lauder and have access to both a lot of knowledge, and a significant discount for some of the best skincare products on the market.

I've been taking special care of my nighttime skincare routine and that's what brought us here today. This is what I do almost every single night, and I'm also including the treatments and product I use weekly or when my skin is in desperate need of something extra.

*The last time I did this was in 2022 and some of the products are still the same, but I've pared the amount of products I switch between and what I use.

Makeup Remover

If I'm wearing makeup during the day I will remove it with a Makeup Eraser, which is severely underrated. It removes every speck of makeup with just water and magic. Depending on how much makeup I have on I might use a cleansing balm and my go-to is currently the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Cleansing Balm because it's oil rich formula breaks down all the makeup but it turns into a milky lather and leaves my skin feeling soft.

Cleanser

The only cleanser I can use is the Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser. I have such horrible allergic reactions to anything else, no matter how gentle and non fragrance free they are. My eyes will get red, itchy, and swollen so I don't disrupt the balance. If I wore makeup or just feel like my skin needs to the extra TLC, I'll use my Foreo Luna 3, a silicone, vibrating cleansing device that gets deep into your skin to get rid of dirt and makeup. It's a game changer! If I don't use the Foreo, I'll just use my hands with the cleanser.

Exfoliate

When my skin starts to look dull and texture appears, I break out my exfoliator. The best one that I've tried and what I've been loyal to for a bit now is the SKNN by Kim exfoliator. This is the grainiest yet most gentle texture, and is very thorough; it gets rid of every bit of dead skin and leaves your face silky smooth. My skin never looks better than right after using this product.

Once a week, I go in with my PMD Beauty Microdermabrasion tool. They sent it to me in PR and I've been loving it. It's like a weekly facial that leaves me with a smoother, glowier complexion. I have only used it about 5-6 times so I can't give a true review yet but first impressions is that I really like it and I'll do a dedicated post after using it more.

Treatments & Serums

Depending on the day and what I've previously done in my routine, I use a variety of treatments and ingredients on my skin. If I exfoliated, I will use my Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Rescue Solution which calms redness, reduces sensitivity, and reduces stressed skin. If I didn't exfoliate, I will go in with the Glossier Retinol. I really like this more beginner friendly retinol because it doesn't irritate my skin but I think once I'm done with this bottle, I'll try to find something a little stronger. The Glossier one is very good though! I think it does what it's supposed to do and my skin always looks better after using it.

No matter what day it is though, I always use my Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum. It is my holy grail, liquid gold, and the best part of my skincare routine. It keeps my skin hydrated, smooth, firm, protected, and radiant. If you're going to use only one skincare product, let it be this.

Eye Cream

I'm not as religious with my eye cream as I have been in the past because I'm just so scared of causing any sort of allergic reaction but my go-to for the past few years has been the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Supercharged Gel Creme. It reduces the appearance of dark circles, protects against blue light (which I love) and hydrates your under-eyes. It's super lightweight and sinks into the skin immediately which is great for nighttime use.

Moisturize

I will always use a moisturizer at night to seal all the skincare in and leave any dryness behind. My favorites are the Estee Lauder Revitalizing Supreme (either the regular version or the night cream) and the Glossier After Baume. They're both similar yet very different. The Supreme has firming and sculpting capabilities and is more geared towards anti-aging while the Glossier After Baume is a true hydrator and helps heal your skin barrier. I use them very interchangeably but will usually reach for the Glossier if I need extra hydration or calming effects.

Other Skincare Tools

Depending on the day, my mood and how much time I have, I might slap on some Ole Henriksen HydraBarrier Nourishing Face Oil and then use my gua sha, usually when my jaw hurts and needs some attention. I've also been loving my SkinGym LED Light Therapy Mask. It switches between red for anti-aging, blue for acne and yellow for radiance, so depending on what I need, I'll use that particular color. It's a very calming act and a great way to end my skincare routine.
