October is coming to an end and it was a good month. The weather was very October-y aside from the 3 out of 4 weekends of rain, and I watched Hocus Pocus every single day. I ate my pumpkin treats, had my Halloween party, and enjoyed the fallness of each day.
It was a little difficult for me to get into the groove of fall but that might just be because I'm in a new space and as much as I love my apartment, it still feels weird to be in a new space. Fall didn't give me that consistent happy feel like it always does, but maybe that's because I've been in fall mode since the end of August.
Also, for the first time ever, I started daydreaming about Christmas before Halloween even hit the calendar. I don't know if it's because of TikTok edits, Pinterest, or the release of Christmas decor that has my mouth watering and wallet crying, but I can't wait to decorate for Christmas. I've always been very into chic, winter vibes but this year it just feels so much more special, I don't know why. I think I'll probably decorate for Christmas and transform into that mode before Thanksgiving just to give myself a few extra weeks of Christmas cheer.
Now, back to October and the items I loved. I did a lot of shopping this month and really need to dial it back, which I will, but first we need to discuss everything that I fell in love with this month.
J.Crew Giselle Sweater
I ordered this sweater in brown back in August, then the Duchess of Sussex herself decided to wear the white one to the Invictus Games and everyone freaked out. I was wearing my brown one so much and it brought me so much joy, so I decided to buy another in black. *White is currently on pre-order*. I cannot stop wearing these sweaters. They go with everything, are warm without being too warm, the gold button detailing is sophisticated and chic, and I just love them so much. I tried the beige one and it didn't look great on me so I'm sticking with brown and black for now.
Briogeo Rice Water Protein Treatment
Mid-September I started to notice that my hair was shedding a lot more than usual. Whenever I would touch my hair, lots of strands would fall out. It was worse when I would wash my hair and it started to really concern me. I spent weeks thinking of solutions and looking up different products to help the shedding. I decided to start taking collagen peptides again, stopped using my old hair mask that was making my hair too soft, and looked for strengthening, anti-breakage treatments. I didn't need my hair to grow, I needed it to not shed. I'd been eyeing the Briogeo Rice Water Treatment since it was released and finally decided to buy and try it. Well, this was the saving grace. The shedding has decreased (and it might be the peptides, but I do think the treatment is helping), and my hair feels and looks better. It's shinier, feels less stiff, and kind of just feels like my natural hair again. I wash my hair once a week, so I use this every time and I swear it's been making a world of difference.
Target Boucle Chair
You would've seen this chair in my living room reveal blog post but I have to mention it here. Over the past few years as boucle has become more and more trendy, I've dreamt of all things boucle. The fact that I found a chair, from Target, that is exactly what I envisioned and was under $300 at the time is amazing. *As I type this it's currently on sale for $250. It's super comfortable, looks very chic, and is very sturdy. I kind of want to get another one...
Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm
This is an oldie but a goodie. I cannot stop using the Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm! I have always loved and used it but lately, it seems it's the only lip product in my bag. I purchased the special trio set that came with an exclusive shade, Iced Coffee, and that's been the shade I'm wearing the most. I love the brown undertone and how it makes my lips feel. These are very hydrating, offer a beautiful glossy finish without being sticky, and a little goes a long way. There's a shade for everyone and they're the perfect addition to any makeup look -- I've even dabbed a little on top of a lipstick and it looks gorgeous.
